Khon Kaen Province Thailand

Khon Kaen Province is one of the largest provinces of Thailand in the northeastern region called Isan. The border provinces are Loei, Nong-Bua Lamphu, and Udon Thani in the north, Kalasin and Maha Sarakham in the east, Buriram and Nakhon Ratchasima in the south, and Chaiyaphum and Phetchabun in the west. The province was first settled in 1783 under the province of Udon Thani.

Located 450 kilometers northeast of Bangkok, Khon Kaen Province has a total area of 10,886.0 km2, the 15th largest in the country. It had more than 1.7 million people in 2015. Topography is mostly plateau. The province is an emerging tourist destination. Read: Khon Kaen Attractions
