Nakhon Ratchasima Profile: Tourist Spots, Schools, Districts

Nakhon Ratchasima Province, also known as Khorat, is one of the provinces of Isan, the northeastern region of Thailand. It is bounded on the north by Chaiyaphum and Khon Kaen, on the east by Buriram, on the south by Sa Kaeo, Prachin Buri, and Nakhon Nayok, and on the west by Saraburi and Lopburi.

Located 259 kilometers northeast of Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima Province has an area of 20,494 km2, the largest in Thailand. In 2015, it had and estimated population of more than 2.6 million. Topography consists of plateau with mountains in the southwest. Main products include rice, sugar, tapioca, Thai silk clothes, rice noodles, and ceramics called Dan Kwian.

From Bangkok, the first district to be reached is Pak Chong, considered as the gateway to the northeast.
