Lampang Province is one of the provinces in the northern region of Thailand. Neigboring provinces are Chiang Rai and Phayao (north), Phrae and Sukhothai (east), Tak Province (south), Lamphun and Chiang Mai (west).
Located 606 kilometers from Bangkok, Lampang Province has a total land area of 12,534 km² and an estimated population of more than 753,000 in 2015. Topography is mountainous with broad valleys drained by the Wang River. Aside from agriculture, the production of ceramics and coal are important industries in the province. One of the biggest coal-fired power plants in the world is built near the coal mining site.
