Bueng Kan Province is one of the provinces in the northeastern region (Isan) of Thailand. It is actually the newest province having been created only in 2011. It is bounded on the north and east by Laos, On the south by Nakhon Phanom and Sakon Nakhon and on the west by Nong Khai.
Located 628 kilometers northeast of Bangkok, Bueng Kan Province has an area of 4,305 km² and an estimated population of more than 418,000 in 2015. Topography consists of the Isan plateau with some mountains in the east. Main products are rice, tapioca, and fruits.
