Yasothon province is one of the provinces in the Isan or northeastern region of Thailand. Surrounding provinces are Mukdahan (north), Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani (east), Sisaket (south), and Roi Et (west). This province was created in 1972 by Prime Minister Thanom Kittikachorn. It was previously a part of Ubon Ratchathani.
Located 534 kilometers northeast of Bangkok, Yasothon Province has an area of 4,161.7 km2 and an estimated population of more than 540,000 in 2015. Topography is mostly flat to rolling hills. Major source of livelihood is farming.
