History of San Lorenzo Ruiz
San Lorenzo Ruiz was formerly part of Calasgasan, an independent municipality which was later merged with the capital town of Daet. On November 8, 1970, a new municipality was created upon the approval of Republic Act No. 6144. It was named Imelda in honor of former First Lady of the country, Imelda Romualdez Marcos.
On February 10, 1989, Imelda was renamed San Lorenzo Ruiz by virtue of Republic Act 6144 to honor the first Filipino saint.
