Neri Colmenares is an accomplished lawyer who handled high-profile cases such as the impeachment cases of Renato Corona, Ombudsman Merci Gutierrez, and President Gloria Arroyo, constitutionality of Executive Order 464, Emergency Rule Proclamation 1017, and the Visiting Forces Agreement in the light of the Subic Rape Case.
As a congressman, Neri Colmenares authored several laws including Special Election Precincts for PWDs and senior citizens (RA 10633), the law allowing media to vote before election day (RA 10380), Reparation Law for human rights victims during Martial Law (RA 10368), Anti-Torture Law (RA 9745), Anti-Enforced Disappearance Law (RA 10353), and Republic Act No. 10639 or Free Mobile Disaster Alerts Law.
