Rayong Province is one of the provinces in the eastern region of Thailand. It is bounded on the north and west by the province of Chonburi, on the east by Chantaburi, and on the south by the Gulf of Thailand. (See map below) This province is where King Taksin fled and sought refuge after the Fall of Ayutthaya.
Located 176 kilometers east of Bangkok, Rayong has a total land of 3,552 km2 and an estimated population of more than 674,000 in 2015. Except for the hilly area in the northern part of the province, topography is generally coastal flat.
