May 14, 2023 – Carlo Paalam won a gold medal for boxing at the Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.

August 20, 2021 – Carlo Paalam officially joined the Philippine Navy as apprentice seaman.

On August 7, 2021, Carlo Paalam settled for silver after being defeated by Galal Yafai of Great Britain in the final competition of the men’s flyweight division at the Tokyo Olympics.

On August 5, 2021, Carlo Paalam beat Japanese boxer Tanaka Ryomei to advance to the finals.

On August 3, 2021, Carlo Paalam disposed of titleholder Shakhobidin Zoirov of Uzbekistan in the quarterfinals. On July 31, 2021, he defeated Mohammed Flissi of Algeria in the Round of 16. Previously, he won over Brendan Irvine of Ireland by split decision in his first Tokyo Olympics bout.
