Estancia is a 2nd class coastal municipality of Iloilo province in Western Visayas Region, Philippines.

History of Estancia

Estancia was originally a ranch owned by a wealthy Spaniard who married a local woman. In 1903, total population was only 2,461 but it ballooned to 13,323 in 1960. The 2015 census revealed that the number of residents totalled 48,546.

Economy of Estancia

Estancia is an agricultural town where fish and rice are the main products. It is the the home of a fish port and a feeder port. The Poblacion (town center) is a beehive of trading and other businesses. Several commercial buildings including malls are being constructed. Manufacturing is limited to small scale production of handicrafts and processed food, repair of furniture and machineries as well as tailoring and hollow block making.
