Douglas Cagas Biography

Douglas Cagas was a Filipino politician. He served as governor and congressman of Davao Del Sur Province in Northern Mindanao Region.

In the May 13, 2019 election, he ran for governor and easily defeated former Digos Mayor Joseph Peñas of the regional Hugpo Ng Pagbabago Party (HNP). He was a member of the ruling PDP-Laban Party.

On June 10, 2021, Governor Cagas passed away at the Medical Center for Digos Cooperative Hospital​ due to Covid-19 infection. He was 77 years old.

Scandals and Controversies
In 2010, Douglas Cagas was charged along with Matanao Mayor Vicente Fernandez, Ali Ordaneza and Bado Sanches in connection with murder of newsman Nestor Bedolido. In 2014, he was jailed after he surrendered. In 2016, he walked free after posting bail.
