10/23/2026 (Friday) Today’s Gospel reading: Luke 12:54-59

54 Jesus said to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising in the west you say immediately that it is going to rain and so it does;
55 and when you notice that the wind is blowing from the south you say that it is going to be hot and so it is.
56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky; why do you not know how to interpret the present time?
57 “Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?
58 If you are to go with your opponent before a magistrate, make an effort to settle the matter on the way; otherwise your opponent will turn you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the constable, and the constable throw you into prison.
59 I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.”

Theme: The Wisdom to Read the Signs and Make Things Right

Jesus challenges people to recognize the signs of the times, understand what God is teaching them, and settle their differences before it is too late. He reminds us that just as we observe the changing weather, we must also learn to recognize the deeper truths of life and make the right decisions while we still have the opportunity.

Life is full of signs. Sometimes God speaks through our experiences, the people we meet, the challenges we face, and the opportunities that come our way. The question is not whether God is speaking, but whether we are willing to listen, understand, and respond.

Let us use the word RIGHT as our guide to living with wisdom, humility, and a heart ready for change.

R – Recognize the Signs
We often pay attention to the things happening around us, yet we sometimes ignore what is happening within us. We recognize changes in the weather, but do we recognize when our hearts are becoming cold, our faith is weakening, or our relationships are falling apart? Life constantly gives us opportunities to reflect and grow. Every challenge can teach us patience, every disappointment can strengthen our character, and every blessing can remind us of God’s goodness. Let us open our eyes to the signs that invite us to become better people.

I – Introspect with Honesty
Before we criticize others, we must learn to examine ourselves. It is easy to see the mistakes of our neighbors while remaining blind to our own shortcomings. Honest reflection requires courage because it asks us to acknowledge our weaknesses, admit our mistakes, and accept responsibility for our actions. We cannot change what we refuse to recognize. When we allow God to search our hearts, we discover not only what needs correction but also what needs healing. True wisdom begins when we stop making excuses and start making changes.

G – Give Peace a Chance
Unresolved conflicts can become heavy burdens that steal our peace and damage our relationships. Sometimes, pride keeps us from apologizing, anger prevents us from listening, and fear stops us from reaching out. But life is too precious to spend it carrying unnecessary hatred. If we have hurt someone, let us find the courage to say sorry. If someone has hurt us, let us consider the possibility of forgiveness. Reconciliation does not always mean everything will return to the way it was, but it allows us to move forward without allowing bitterness to control our hearts.

H – Hurry to Do What Is Right
There are things we should never postpone: asking forgiveness, expressing gratitude, showing kindness, and making peace. We often tell ourselves that there will be another opportunity, another conversation, or another day. Yet tomorrow is never guaranteed. Do not wait until a relationship is broken beyond repair before you attempt to restore it. Do not wait until someone is gone before you tell them how much they mean to you. When we know what is right, we should not allow pride, fear, or procrastination to prevent us from doing it.

T – Trust God’s Timing and Teaching
God gives us wisdom through His Word, guidance through prayer, and lessons through our daily experiences. However, recognizing the truth is only the beginning; we must also be willing to act on it. Trusting God means allowing His wisdom to correct our attitudes, redirect our decisions, and transform our hearts. We may not always understand why certain things happen, but we can choose to respond with faith, humility, and love.

Today, let us remember that recognizing the signs of life is not enough if we refuse to change. May we have the wisdom to see what needs attention, the humility to admit what needs correction, and the courage to do what is right before the opportunity passes.

Let us not merely know the right thing to do; let us have the faith and courage to do it.
