Japar Dimaampao is a Filipino government official. He is currently serving as associate justice of Supreme Court of the Philippines. Previously, he was one of the associate justices of the Court of Appeals.
For thirteen (13) times, Japar Dimaampao applied for the position of associate justice of the Supreme Court but for thirteen times, he was bypassed. For the 14th time, he was finally appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte on July 2, 2021 to replace Alexander Gesmundo who was promoted to Chief Justice. He is so far the second Muslim magistrate to be appointed to the High Court. The first one was Abdulwahid Bidin who was appointed by President Corazon Aquino in 1987.
