She was crowned as the second runner up in the Miss Universe – Philippines 2020 beauty pageant where she represented the city of Quezon. The pageant was held at the Cordillera Convention Hall in Baguio City on October 25, 2020.
On December 4, 2020, Miss Universe Philippines announced that Michele Gumabao was given the official title “Ambassador for Health and Fitness”.
