History of Kalibo

Kalibo was founded on November 3, 1571, one of the earliest Spanish settlements in the country.

Economy of Kalibo

Kalibo is the commercial and financial center of Aklan Province. It hosts several malls, educational institutions and an international airport. Still, agriculture plays an important role in the local economy. Fish, Rice and corn are the primary products. Tourism is a fast rising industry.
