History of President Garcia
The municipality of President Carlos P. Garcia was named after the 8th president of the Philippines who was a native of Talibon, Bohol. It was formerly called Pitogo. The change of name occured on October 27, 1977.
The old town of Pitogo was a territory of Ubay. On June 27, 1969, Pitogo was created as a town by virtue of Republic Act no. 5864 through the efforts of then Congressman Teodoro Galagar.
In 2019, the municipality of President Garcia was awarded 2 million Philippine pesos from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources for winning the Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (Clean and Bountiful Sea) Search for outstanding coastal municipality in Region 7.
