Karen Gallman was all smiles after she was announced as Miss Intercontinental 2018. She is the first Filipina to win the title.
The 47th Miss Intercontinental beauty pageant was held on January 26 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. This was the first time the country has hosted the event.
Karen Gallman, 25, is from Bohol, an island province in central Philippines. Like Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, Gallman’s father is Australian.
When asked to define success, she said “For me, success is not just about winning in life but setting goals — smaller goals — and achieving your dreams and working hard for everything you want and always looking up to God and being thankful for everything. For me, that is success.”
At least 80 countries participated in the competition. Miss Costa Rica was declared first runner-up while Miss Slovak Republic was second. Completing the top 6 were Miss Vietnam, Miss Colombia, and Miss Ethiopia.
Miss Intercontinental 2017 Veronica Salas Vallejo from Mexico made her final walk before she crowned her successor.
