Srinakharinwirot University is one of the largest public universities in Thailand. It was founded in 1949 as The Advanced Teacher Training School. In 1974, it merged with The College of Education (founded 1953) and renamed Srinakharinwirot University.

Srinakharinwirot University is the first university in the country to focus on teacher training. Over the years, it has evolved into a research-oriented university with international outlook. Recently, it has adopted the philosophy “Education is Growth” with a goal to instill five important precepts to an average of 25,000 annual enrolees. The five values are faith, sacred precepts, attentiveness, abandonement, wisdom.
At present, the university has two campuses: Bangkok and Nakhon Nayok. Its international college offers programs in economics and linguistics both in the undergraduate and graduate levels.
