Prayut Chan-o-cha is the current prime minister of Thailand. He was a former Royal Thai Army general who staged a military coup against the then government of Yingluck Shinawatra, the sister of deposed Prime Minister Thaksin.
General Prayut Chan-o-cha was born on 21 March 1954 in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. He graduated from Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy with a bachelor of science degree.

May 2014 —— assumed control of the country as National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) leader immediately after the military staged a coup against the government of Yingluck Shinawatra.
August 2014 — appointed as Prime Minister by a military-dominated national legislature whose members were handpicked by Prayut himself.
Prayut Chan-o-cha has two kids with wife Naraporn Chan-o-cha, a former associate professor at Chulalongkorn University‘s Language Institute.
