11/12/2026 (Thursday) Today’s Gospel reading: Luke 17:20-25
20 Asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come, Jesus said in reply, “The coming of the Kingdom of God cannot be observed,
21 and no one will announce, ‘Look, here it is,’ or, ‘There it is.’ For behold, the Kingdom of God is among you.”
22 Then he said to his disciples, “The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.
23 There will be those who will say to you, ‘Look, there he is,’ or ‘Look, here he is.’ Do not go off, do not run in pursuit.
24 For just as lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.
25 But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation.”
11/12/2026 (Thursday) Today’s Gospel reflection / homily / sermon: Luke 17:20-25
Theme: Discovering the Kingdom of God in Our Daily Lives
The Kingdom of God is not simply a distant destination that we hope to reach someday. It is a present reality that begins within us and becomes visible through the way we live, love, and treat one another. In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that God’s Kingdom is not something we should constantly search for through extraordinary signs or spectacular events. It is already at work in our midst, inviting us to recognize His presence in our everyday experiences.
Using the word AMONG, let us reflect on five important ways to recognize and live out the Kingdom of God.
A – Acknowledge God’s Presence Within Us
The Kingdom of God begins with a heart that welcomes Him. We sometimes look for God in extraordinary experiences, miraculous events, or dramatic signs, forgetting that He is already present in our hearts. Every time we choose goodness over selfishness, forgiveness over resentment, and faith over fear, we allow His Kingdom to grow within us. We do not need to wait for perfect circumstances to experience God’s presence. We only need to open our hearts and allow Him to transform us from within.
M – Make Love Our Way of Life
God’s Kingdom becomes visible through love in action. It is reflected in our kindness, generosity, compassion, and willingness to help others. We cannot claim to belong to God’s Kingdom while deliberately hurting people, spreading hatred, or ignoring those who need our attention. Love is not merely something we feel; it is something we demonstrate. Even the smallest act of kindness can become a powerful expression of God’s presence among His people.
O – Observe God’s Work in Ordinary Moments
We often expect God to reveal Himself through extraordinary circumstances, but He also works through ordinary moments. We encounter Him in a sincere conversation, a helping hand, a comforting word, a family member’s embrace, or a stranger’s kindness. Sometimes, we become so occupied with searching for something extraordinary that we fail to appreciate the blessings already surrounding us. Let us develop eyes that recognize God’s goodness even in the simplest experiences of life.
N – Never Lose Hope in Difficult Times
Jesus also prepares His disciples for the suffering and rejection that lie ahead. Following Him does not mean that our lives will always be comfortable or free from difficulties. There will be disappointments, uncertainties, sacrifices, and moments when our faith is tested. Yet, we must never allow suffering to convince us that God has abandoned us. The Kingdom of God is not measured by the absence of problems but by the presence of faith, courage, and hope in the middle of them.
G – Grow in Faithfulness Every Day
Jesus reminds His followers that His suffering must come before His ultimate glory. This teaches us that the journey of faith requires patience, sacrifice, and perseverance. We cannot expect spiritual maturity without allowing ourselves to be shaped by life’s challenges. Rather than constantly waiting for tomorrow’s blessings, let us be faithful in today’s responsibilities. Every day gives us another opportunity to become better Christians, better family members, and better human beings.
The Kingdom of God is not merely something we talk about, preach about, or wait for. It is something we must allow others to experience through us. We become instruments of God’s Kingdom whenever we bring hope to the discouraged, peace to those in conflict, comfort to the suffering, and love to those who feel forgotten.
Let us remember that we do not have to travel far to find God’s Kingdom. It begins within our hearts, grows through our actions, and becomes visible among us.
May our lives become living reminders that wherever faith, love, compassion, and hope are present, God’s Kingdom is already at work.
