Biography
Biado grew up facing severe socioeconomic hardships following his parents’ separation. Raised primarily by his mother in a broken family, he began working at just 13 years old as a golf caddie at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City to help support his household. Because of intense financial pressures, Biado was forced to drop out of high school during his very first year to pursue manual labor and informal income. It was during his time spent around the clubhouse that he first observed people playing pool; despite early resistance from his mother, he taught himself the game by analyzing other players and practicing on a makeshift table. He quickly began earning a livelihood through money matches and neighborhood bets. Today, Biado resides in Muntinlupa (with deep roots remaining in La Union and Nueva Ecija) and is a dedicated family man, married to his wife Niecky, with whom he shares five children.

Biado officially turned professional in 2004, though his early career was defined by tough losses and years without a major title. Showing immense resilience, he used these setbacks to analytically refine his approach, leading to a monumental career breakthrough in 2017 when he won the World Games 9-ball gold medal and secured his first WPA World Nine-ball Championship. Amid the tournament droughts of the COVID-19 pandemic, his wife encouraged him to move to the United States in 2021. The gamble paid off spectacularly when he won the prestigious U.S. Open Pool Championship that same year, joining legends like Efren “Bata” Reyes and Alex Pagulayan as the only Filipinos to ever do so. Biado’s dominance only intensified over time; he captured the WPA World Ten-ball Championship in 2024, swept massive American events like the Derby City Classic, and made history in 2025 by defeating Fedor Gorst to become the first-ever Filipino to win the World Nine-ball Championship twice. Boasting a strict daily regime of running and sinking dozens of practice racks, his unparalleled multi-discipline precision culminated in a historic milestone in late 2025: Carlo Biado was elected into the prestigious Billiard Congress of America (BCA) Hall of Fame, forever cementing his legacy alongside the sport’s greatest icons.
