July 15 2026 Gospel Reading and Reflection

7/15/2026 (Wednesday) Today’s Gospel reading: Matthew 11:25-27

25 At that time Jesus exclaimed: “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.
26 Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”

7/15/2026 (Wednesday) Today’s Gospel reflection / sermon / homily: Matthew 11:25-27

Jesus pauses in the middle of His ministry to express deep gratitude to the Father. Instead of praising human intelligence or social status, He rejoices that God’s truth is welcomed by those with humble and trusting hearts. He also reveals that the deepest knowledge of God is found through the Son. This short passage reminds us that a relationship with God is not earned by brilliance but received through faith.

The word SON can help us remember this beautiful message.

S – Stay Humble

The first lesson is to stay humble. Pride often convinces us that we already know enough. It makes us rely on our own understanding instead of seeking God’s wisdom. Humility, however, opens the heart to learn. A humble person admits, “I still need God’s guidance.”

Think of a child learning to ride a bicycle. The child listens carefully to a parent because he knows he cannot do it alone. In the same way, those who acknowledge their need for God become teachable and receptive to His direction. God delights in revealing His truth to hearts that are willing to listen rather than to boast.

Humility is not weakness. It is the strength to admit that we cannot navigate life without our Creator.

O – Open Your Heart to the Son

The second lesson is to open your heart to the Son. Jesus teaches that the Father is fully known through Him. Many people search for meaning in success, wealth, education, or popularity. While these things have value, they cannot satisfy the deepest longing of the human heart.

Imagine owning the latest technology but never reading the manual. You may use a few features, but you will never discover its full purpose. Likewise, many people try to understand life without knowing the One through whom life finds its meaning.

Opening our hearts to Jesus changes the way we see God. We no longer view Him as distant or unreachable but as a loving Father who desires a personal relationship with us. Through the Son, we discover forgiveness, hope, purpose, and eternal life.

N – Nurture a Trusting Relationship

Finally, nurture a trusting relationship with God every day. Faith is more than knowing facts about Him; it is walking with Him daily. Just as a healthy friendship grows through regular conversation and shared experiences, our relationship with God deepens through prayer, reflection, obedience, and trust.

There will be moments when life becomes confusing. We may not understand why certain doors close or why hardships come. During those times, remember that God sees what we cannot. Trusting Him does not remove every problem, but it gives us peace because we know we are in His loving hands.

A gardener does not expect a seed to become a tree overnight. Growth takes time, care, and patience. In the same way, our faith matures as we continue trusting God through every season of life.

Today, remember the word SON:
Stay Humble. Open your heart to the Son. Nurture a trusting relationship with God. When we approach God with childlike faith and allow Jesus to lead us, we discover a wisdom greater than human knowledge and a love that transforms our lives from the inside out.
