7/10/2026 (Friday) Today’s Gospel reading: Matthew 10:16-23
Jesus said to his Apostles:
16 “Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves.
17 But beware of men, for they will hand you over to courts and scourge you in their synagogues,
18 and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake as a witness before them and the pagans.
19 When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say. You will be given at that moment what you are to say.
20 For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
21 Brother will hand over brother to death, and the father his child; children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
22 You will be hated by all because of my name, but whoever endures to the end will be saved.
23 When they persecute you in one town, flee to another. Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.”
7/10/2026 (Friday) Today’s Gospel reflection / homily / sermon: Matthew 10:16-23
Jesus never promised that following Him would always be easy. That is why, He needed to prepare His disciples for a mission filled with challenges, opposition, and even persecution. Yet His message was not one of fear but of courage. He assured them that they would never stand alone because God would give them wisdom, strength, and the right words when they needed them most. The same assurance remains true for every believer today. The word NAME provides a simple reminder of how to remain faithful.
N – Navigate with Wisdom. Jesus compared His followers to sheep among wolves. Believers are called to be wise in making decisions while remaining innocent in character. We do not overcome evil by becoming like it. Instead, we respond with discernment, integrity, and love.
A – Abide in God’s Strength. Difficult moments often expose our human weakness. Instead of relying solely on our abilities, we are invited to depend on God’s Spirit. He supplies wisdom when we are confused, courage when we are afraid, and peace when our hearts are troubled. Every trial becomes an opportunity to witness His sustaining grace.
M – Maintain Faithfulness. Opposition should never silence our testimony. Family, friends, or society may misunderstand our commitment to Christ, but our calling is to remain steadfast. Faithfulness is measured not by comfort or popularity but by perseverance. God honors those who continue trusting Him through every hardship.
E – Endure with Hope. Jesus pointed His disciples beyond present suffering toward future victory. Trials are temporary, but God’s promises are eternal. Every sacrifice made for His name has lasting value. Endurance is not simply surviving difficult times; it is continuing to love, serve, and trust God while believing that He is working through every circumstance for His glory and our good.
The Christian journey is not free from hardship, but it is never without purpose. Every challenge shapes our character, deepens our faith, and prepares us for greater usefulness in God’s kingdom. When doors close, God opens new opportunities. When opposition rises, His grace becomes more evident. When words fail, His Spirit provides what is needed.
Remember the word “NAME” whenever your faith is tested:
Navigate with wisdom.
Abide in God’s strength.
Maintain faithfulness.
Endure with hope.
When you carry the Name of Jesus, you do not walk alone. The One who calls you is faithful. He equips you for every challenge, strengthens you through every trial, and will ultimately lead you into the joy of His eternal victory. Therefore, stand firm, trust deeply, and let your life continually honor the glorious Name above every name.
