Career
Kimberly Anne Custodio embarked on her Jiu-Jitsu career relatively late in 2014, making a remarkable transition from being a former beauty queen (Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2004) into a world-class martial artist. Despite the later start, she quickly established herself as a force, earning a silver medal at the 2016 IBJJF World Championship as a white belt. Her dedication soon paid off on the global stage, where she secured her first major title by winning the gold medal in the Adult Female –45kg division at the 2022 Jiu-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) World Championships in Abu Dhabi, a feat she achieved while competing at the Purple Belt level. Custodio successfully defended this title, claiming her second JJIF World gold in 2024 and achieving a rare three-peat by securing her third world title in the same division at the 2025 JJIF World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. Having cemented her status as a global champion, the “Armbar Queen” also successfully brought her act to the regional level, winning a gold medal in her Southeast Asian (SEA) Games debut at the 2025 Games in Thailand, competing and triumphing in the slightly heavier –48kg ne-waza event. Beyond her own titles, Custodio is a full-time coach at Modern Day Samurai (MDS) and, alongside her partner and fellow world champion Myron Mangubat, is focused on mentoring and developing the next generation of Filipino Jiu-Jitsu athletes.
