In 2022, he ran for vice governor under PDP-Laban and defeated JJ Pilapil of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) and two other independent candidates.

In the 2025 election, Salvio Patrick Fortuno Jr. is running for reelection under the National Unity Party (NUP).
