Maguindanao Del Norte History
The province of Maguindanao Del Norte was born when former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed into law Republic Act No. 11550 on May 21, 2021. The plebiscite for the people to ratify the law was original scheduled for the month of that year but the Commission on Election (COMELEC) decided to postpone it until after the 2022 presidential and local elections. On September 17, 2022, the plebiscite was conducted and the law was overwhelmingly ratified with only a few thousand negative votes.

On April 5, 2023, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Abdulraof A. Macacua as the officer-in-charge (OIC) governor of the newly created province with Bai Fatima Ainee Limbona Sinsuat as OIC of the Office of the Vice-Governor of the province.
