7/26/2022 Today’s Gospel Reading: Matthew 13:36-43

36 Jesus dismissed the crowds and went into the house. His disciples approached him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”
37 He said in reply, “He who sows good seed is the Son of Man,
38 the field is the world, the good seed the children of the Kingdom. The weeds are the children of the Evil One,
39 and the enemy who sows them is the Devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.
40 Just as weeds are collected and burned up with fire, so will it be at the end of the age.
41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his Kingdom all who cause others to sin and all evildoers.
42 They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.
43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears ought to hear.”

Good Seeds, Good Soil

Some seeds are to be eaten. They give nutrition to our body. Other seeds are selected thorough for planting. They are the good seeds and let us call them “The Chosen Ones” because they have been selected to die on the ground, only to sprout later, grow up and multiple through through their many fruits. While they are growing, they encounter a lot of difficulties especially those coming from the enemy, the weeds.

Through their strength, they overcome the difficulties and one day, the harvest is ready. The harvesters and the owner of the field are happy. These things happen because the seeds were planted on good soil and the owner of the field took care of the plants.

May we all aspire to be the good seed planted on good soil. May it be our mission to grow and multiply and become the food in a world hungry for truth, justice and love. There are many difficulties as we grow but let us get strength and nourishment from the One who planted us. We shall overcome anything, become fruitful and be harvested at the right time.
