A reading from the gospel according to John 16:12-15:
Jesus said to his disciples:
12 “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
13 But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears and will declare to you the things that are coming.
14 He will glorify me because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
15 Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason, I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.”
6/12/2022 Gospel Reflection: A Community of Love and truth
Today we contemplate how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are united in love. They form a community with equality yet with different roles. God the Father created the universe and everything in it. God the Son was sent to incarnate and become our redeemer while God the Holy Spirit is our guide to all truth. Together they form the Blessed Trinity.
The love of the Blessed Trinity overflows into world. During our baptism, we receive the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth and we become incorporated into this community of love. Thus, the whole of Christendom ought to reflect this community of love and be united in truth.
As a member of this community of love, we do everything in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. This is the way we glorify God to whom we belong by virtue of our baptism. Because God is love then love is our badge and truth is our guide.
