History of Pili
The settlement of Pili was established by the American authorities in 1901. It formally became a municipality in 1919. On June 6, 1955, the town was declared as the provincial capital by virtue of Republic Act 1336, replacing Naga City.
Economy of Pili
Pili is an agricultural town where rice, sugar and corn are the major products. As the capital of the province however, many commercial establishments had been established to serve the growing population including thousands of government officials.
Pili is envisioned to be the agro-industrial center of the Bicol Region. In operation are three industrial centers namely: Old agro-industrial zone, Santa Rita Industrial Park, and Isarog Heights Special Economic Zone. Products manufactured in the town includes sugar, coconut oil, feeds, milled rice, and power from bio-mass.
The town is home to Naga Airport which serves the whole province and the main campus of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture.
