History of Talugtug
Talugtug got its name from the Ilocano term “top”. In the olden days, travelers used to stop to rest in a hilly place in this part of Nueva Ecija where balete trees provided shade. In 1917, Talugtug was created as barrio of Cuyapo. Later, it became part of the municipality of Guimba when it was known as Talugtug-Balete.
On January 10, 1948, Talugtug was formally elevated as 26th municipality of Nueva Ecija by virtue of Executive Order No. 113 issued by President Manuel Roxas.
