How Marc Benioff Became a Billionaire with Salesforce

On this day, September 25 in the year 1964, one of the billionaires spawned by the technology revolution was born in California, United States of America. His name is Marc Benioff, the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Salesforce.com, a large enterprise cloud computing company. According to forbes.com, his net worth is $9.3 billion as of September, 2020.

Marc Benioff was the son of Jewish couple who operated a department store in San Francisco City. He attended the University of Southern California where he obtained a degree in business administration. As a teenager, he was already an accomplished programmer having coded a number of games and was in fact receiving more than $1000 a month as royalty fee.

From 1986 to 1999, Marc Benioff worked with oracle Corporation where he held a number of positions in sales, marketing and product development, lastly as a Senior Vice President. Right after he left Oracle, he co-founded Salesforce.com.

Salesforce started as a provider of customer relations management (CRM) using software as a service (SaaS) platform. In 2004, the company went public and raised $110 million. At present, the company has a market capitalization of more than $217.94 billion with upward than 49,000 employees.

Since 2012, Marc Benioff has served as director of Cisco Systems, Inc. He also serves as member of the board of trustees of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Marc Benioff is married with two children.
