History of Calbayog
Calbayog was created as a city on October 16, 1948.
On 1 May 2011, Mayor Reynaldo Uy was murdered by unknown gunmen.
On March 8, 2021, Mayor Ronaldo Aquino was killed on his way to his son’s birthday party. His two bodyguards were also killed.[
