Mercedes is a 2nd class coastal municipality of Camarines Norte Province in Region 5 of Bicol Region, Philippines. It consists of three distinct regions: the low land northern part located on the mouth of Basud River, the mountainous southern part, and the group of islands off the coast of the municipality.

History of Mercedes
Mercedes was formerly called Barra, a barrio of Daet. On July 26, 1948, it became a separate municipality by virtue of Republic Act No. 341 signed by President Elpidio Quirino.

Mercedes is primarily a farming and fishing town where rice, coconut, and fish are the main products. It is the home of a busy fish port on the mouth of Basud River.
