“Everything is possible for one who believes.”
– Mark 9:23
The Holy Scripture speaks a lot of times about the need to believe or to have faith. In many of his healings, Jesus says, “Your faith has healed you”. (Mark 5:34) It only means that healing is possible for one who believes. In another text he says, “”Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.” (Matthew 17:20) It only means that with faith we can do the impossible. On the other hand, it is written that in Galilee, Jesus “did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.” (Matthew 13:58) Obviously, faith or strong belief is an important ingredient for miracles to happen.
It is therefore important to have faith – faith that miracles do happen, faith that there is a higher power than our own, faith that with God, we can do everything.
Even ordinary authors acknowledge the importance of belief. Napoleon Hill in his “Think and Grow Rich” book claimed that “whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” For us Christians however, we hold on to the belief that God is the source of all powers and wisdom and we humbly submit everything to His will.
We read in Luke 1:37 that “with God nothing will be impossible.”
