Her home studio Viva Entertainment through its talent management unit Viva Artists Agency (VAA) posted a congratulatory message on instagram.

The message reads, “Congratulations to our very own, Cristine Reyes for winning the “BEST ACTRESS” award at the recent “OPORTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL” in her portrayal of MARA in the film UNTRUE! We’re very proud of you.”

Directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, “UnTrue” tells the story of Mara, a battered woman who seeks help from the police to help her deal with her abusive businessman husband Joachim played by Xian Lim. Then it turned into a case of finger pointing who between the two of them is telling the truth.

The best actress award is the first for Cristine Reyes in 17 years of her career in the entertainment industry.

Cristine Reyes is not the first Filipino showbiz personality to receive an award from the Oporto Film Festival. Other actresses who received an award are Barbie Forteza (2016), Ina Raymundo (2019) and Ai-Ai delas Alas (2019). Actor Ian Veneracion also won an award in 2018.
