Joseph Cua Biography

Joseph Cua is a Filipino politician. He is currently the governor of Catanduanes Province in the Bicol Region. Running under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) Party as a reelectionist in the May 13, 2019 election, he won over incumbent Congressman Cesar Sarmiento of the PDP-Laban Party.

Four months before the election, he was suspended for six months by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in connection with a complaint filed by private citizen Rey Mendez regarding alleged abuse of authority. In the complaint, Mendez alleged that the governor allowed a construction company owned by the wife of Bato town Mayor Eulogio Rodriguez to stored its equipment in a government property without permission from the provincial council (Sangguniang Panlalawigan).

Joseph Cua willingly obliged with the suspension order.

    • That’s okay GP Cox, I understand your position. This is a site about people and not about political commentaries. I will try as much as possible to stick to factual information.

      • Much appreciated. I have quite a few Filipino friends and I do not wish to appear as siding with one or another political person or group.

        • That’s understandable. Actually, I have strong political opinion on certain issues but I try to restrain from posting my controversial views.
