Joseph Cua is a Filipino politician. He is currently serving as the governor of Catanduanes Province in the Bicol Region. He ran for re-election in 2022 under Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) and defeated incumbent Vice Governor Shirley Abundo of Aksyon Demokratiko and independent candidate Balbas Tanael.
In the May 13, 2019 election, he ran under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) Party as a reelectionist and won over incumbent Congressman Cesar Sarmiento of the PDP-Laban Party.

Scandal / Controversies
Four months before the election, he was suspended for six months by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in connection with a complaint filed by private citizen Rey Mendez regarding alleged abuse of authority. In the complaint, Mendez alleged that the governor allowed a construction company owned by the wife of Bato town Mayor Eulogio Rodriguez to stored its equipment in a government property without permission from the provincial council (Sangguniang Panlalawigan).
Joseph Cua willingly obliged with the suspension order.
