Showbiz Career
In 1985 at age 23, Daniel Fernando appeared in his first big screen project via Scorpio Nights, an erotic film directed by Peque Gallaga. Three years later, he was cast as the best friend of the main character in the film Macho Dancer where he appeared nude in one scene. Directed by National Artist Lino Brocka, the film was heavily censored in the Philippines but was shown in several international film festivals.

In 1999, Daniel Fernando entered mainstream television with his appearance in the television series Kirara aired by GMA Network. He continued to be cast in subsequent television programs even after he became an elected public official.
