Life Before Showbiz
Ion Perez grew up in a big family. At the age of 11, he was bullied by two schoolmates who told him he was ugly and smelly. With that experience, he vowed to make himself more presentable. He did not pursue college education due to poverty and instead helped her mother sell food stuff to neighbors and passers-by. Later, he went to Manila to find work. For three years, he was constantly pursuaded by Yhuong Botor, a photographer, to join male pageants.

Love Life
Ion is currently in a romantic relationship with co-host Vice Ganda. On February 6, 2019, Ion called Vice “Lab” on the set of It’s Showtime. Later, on March 13, Ion revealed on Gandang Gabi Vice program how tiresome it is to deny a relationship. He went further to say that if you really love someone, you should be proud of it. Although it is not yet a direct admission, many viewers already concluded that the two are indeed a couple.

In early May, 2019, Ion accompanied Vice Ganda in a series of shows in the United States. In one of the shows, he declared his love for Vice Ganda saying “Me too, Me too, I love Vice Ganda!”. Also, he introduced his US-based sister to Vice.

On July 15, 2019, Ion and Vice gathered their respective family met in another hint of real life romance. Their photos went viral. A few days later, Ion showed a tattoo on his leg that looks like the birthday of Vice Ganda.
