In 1960, the Department of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education established Thonburi Technology College (TTC). Together with two other technical colleges, TTC was transformed into King Mongkut’s Intitute of Technology (KMIT) by virtue of the 1971 Technology Act. In 1986, each of the three institutes became autonomous. Thus, the Thonburi campus became King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT).
KMUTT is now offering courses mostly in the engineering and technology field. It has its own international college that offers undergraduate and graduate courses including linguistics.
