10/12/2026 (Monday) Today’s Gospel reading: Luke 11:29-32

29 While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them, “This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah.
30 Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation.
31 At the judgment the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here.
32 At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here.”

10/12/2026 (Monday) Today’s Gospel reflection / homily / sermon: Luke 11:29-32

Throughout history, humanity has continually looked up to the skies, demanding undeniable proof before we choose to fully commit our hearts to a higher purpose. We cry out for grand spectacles, magical interventions, or flashing neon signs from heaven to validate our paths. Yet, in Luke 11, Jesus addresses this restless hunger by pointing not to a futuristic cosmic display, but to an ancient historical witness: the SIGN of Jonah and the enduring posture of humility.

Let this powerful four-letter acronym serve as your spiritual compass for recognizing the extraordinary grace already moving in your midst today.

S – Seeking with Sincerity
The crowds in Jesus’ day were captivated by the spectacular rather than the sacred. They wanted miracles on demand. True spiritual breakthrough, however, does not begin with dramatic external proof; it starts with an honest, humble internal inventory. When we stop demanding that God bend to our conditional terms, saying, “Show me, and then I will trust”, we open our eyes to the quiet, persistent ways truth is already knocking at the door of our hearts.

I – Insight Over Ignorance
Jesus reminded His listeners that the Ninevites repented at the mere preaching of Jonah, and the Queen of the South traveled great distances to hear the wisdom of Solomon. They possessed profound insight because they recognized authenticity when they saw it. Today, we often overlook the everyday miracles surrounding us such as acts of profound forgiveness, quiet resilience, and undeserved grace because we are too busy waiting for lightning to strike. Open your eyes to the subtle yet undeniable wisdom guiding your steps.

G – Greater Than What Has Gone Before
The core of Jesus’ message is staggering: “Something greater than Solomon is here.” Whatever past victories, ancient traditions, or former glories you are clinging to, the present moment holds a deeper, richer source of hope. You do not need to look backward for validation or forward with paralyzing anxiety. The transformative power available to you right now surpasses anything the ancient world witnessed. It is active, living, and entirely personal.

N – Notice and Respond
A sign is ultimately a directional marker which is meant to be followed, not just admired. The Ninevites did not just hear Jonah; they changed their lives entirely. When you recognize the profound truth, love, and direction operating in your life today, the appropriate response is immediate action. Do not let hesitation rob you of transformation. Step forward with courage, knowing that the greatest sign you can offer the world is a life completely changed by grace.

Ultimately, Jesus challenges us to stop demanding dramatic external proof and instead recognize the profound grace already present in our lives. By seeking with sincerity, gaining insight into everyday miracles, embracing a greater power than the past, and noticing the call to respond, we can step forward in faith and allow truth to completely transform our lives.
