6/20/2026 (Saturday) Today’s Gospel reading: Matthew 6:24-34
Jesus said to his disciples:
24 “No one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they?
27 Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?
28 Why are you anxious about clothes? Learn from the way the wildflowers grow. They do not work or spin.
29 But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was clothed like one of them.
30 If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?
31 So do not worry and say, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear?’
32 All these things the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
33 But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides.
34 Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil.”
6/20/2026 (Saturday) Today’s Gospel reflection / homily / sermon: Matthew 6:24-34
This Gospel reading invites us to live with confidence in God’s loving care instead of being consumed by worry. Jesus reminds us that life is more than possessions, achievements, or the endless pursuit of material security. While we are called to work responsibly and plan wisely, we are not meant to carry burdens that belong to God.
Let us use the word LIFE to easilyt remember this Gospel message.
L – Look to God First
The first lesson is to place God at the center of our lives. Many people spend their days chasing wealth, success, recognition, or comfort, believing these things will bring lasting happiness. Yet when these become our highest priority, they often leave us restless and dissatisfied. True peace begins when God becomes our first concern. When we seek His will, our decisions become clearer, our priorities become healthier, and our hearts become more peaceful. Looking to God first does not mean neglecting our responsibilities; it means allowing Him to guide every responsibility we have.
I – Ignore Unnecessary Worries
Worry has a way of stealing today’s strength without solving tomorrow’s problems. It fills the mind with “what ifs” and drains the heart of hope. Jesus teaches that anxiety cannot add anything meaningful to our lives. Many things that trouble us never happen, while many challenges that do arise are overcome with God’s help.
Ignoring unnecessary worries does not mean pretending problems do not exist. Rather, it means refusing to let fear become our master. We do what we can, entrust the rest to God, and move forward in faith. Every time we choose trust over panic, we create room for peace to grow.
F – Focus on God’s Faithfulness
The natural world constantly reveals God’s care. The beauty of creation reminds us that the One who sustains all living things also watches over us. Throughout our lives, God has carried us through difficulties, provided unexpected blessings, and opened doors when none seemed possible.
When worries begin to overwhelm us, it helps to remember God’s faithfulness in the past. Reflect on the prayers He has answered, the challenges He has helped you overcome, and the people He has placed in your life. Gratitude strengthens faith. The more we focus on God’s faithfulness, the less power fear has over us.
E – Embrace Each Day with Trust
One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is learning to live one day at a time. Many people suffer not because of today’s problems but because they are carrying tomorrow’s burdens today. God provides grace for the present moment. He gives strength for today’s challenges, wisdom for today’s decisions, and peace for today’s journey.
Embracing each day with trust means waking up with confidence that God is already present in whatever lies ahead. It means doing today’s work faithfully and leaving tomorrow in His hands. This attitude frees us from unnecessary stress and allows us to enjoy the blessings that surround us right now.
The message of LIFE is simple yet powerful:
L – Look to God First
I – Ignore Unnecessary Worries
F – Focus on God’s Faithfulness
E – Embrace Each Day with Trust
When we live this way, our hearts become lighter, our faith grows stronger, and our lives become more joyful. We discover that peace does not come from having every answer or controlling every circumstance. Peace comes from knowing that God is our loving Father, our faithful provider, and our constant companion. As we place our trust in Him each day, we can face the future not with fear, but with confidence, hope, and gratitude.
