Islay Erika Bomogao became the first Filipina to win an IFMA World Championship in the elite combat division (2023) and has consistently held the World No. 1 ranking in the female -45kg (pinweight) category. Beyond the amateur circuit, she has also successfully transitioned into professional fighting, competing in ONE Championship, where she is known for her technical precision and knockout power.
Her success continued at the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand, where she was a standout performer for the Philippine national team.
