12/10/2025 (Wednesday) Today’s Gospel reading: Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus said to the crowds:
28 Come to me, all you that labour, and are burdened, and I will refresh you.
29 Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek and humble of heart: and you shall find rest to your souls.
30 For my yoke is sweet and my burden light.

12/10/2025 (Wednesday) Today’s Gospel reflection / homily / sermon: Matthew 11:28-30

There are situationss in life when our hearts feel too heavy, our minds too crowded, and our steps too slow. We wake up already tired, burdened by responsibilities, expectations, or silent battles we cannot easily explain. In those moments, God invites us to come close, not with perfection, not with strength, but just as we are. He offers rest not merely for the body but for the soul.

In a world of constant hustle, it’s easy to feel that rest is a luxury. Think of a young professional who works overtime every day, chasing deadlines and recognition. He feels exhausted, yet he pushes on because he fears falling behind. One day he pauses, prays, and realizes that peace does not come from success but from surrendering his anxiety to God. In that surrender, he finds clarity. He works still, but now with calm purpose, not frantic pressure. God didn’t remove his tasks, but He gave him rest in the midst of them.

Or imagine a mother carrying the emotional weight of caring for both her aging parents and her children. She feels torn, overwhelmed, guilty that she cannot give everyone what they need. One evening, she decides to sit quietly and lay her worries before God. She whispers, “Help me carry this.” Suddenly, she senses a soft reassurance in her heart. The situation hasn’t changed, but she feels lighter, strengthened by the quiet confidence that she is not carrying her burdens alone.

This is how God works. He does not promise a life free from challenges. Instead, He promises to walk with us, to shoulder the weight we cannot bear, and to give us the inner peace the world cannot offer. His way is gentle, patient, and compassionate. He does not demand that we run faster or try harder; He simply invites us to trust Him.

In a time when many feel worn out—students pressured by expectations, employees stressed by uncertainty, people grieving losses that others cannot see, God’s invitation becomes a lifeline. He says, “Come. Rest. Learn from Me.” When we entrust our fears, failures, and frustrations into His hands, we discover a deeper kind of rest, the kind that restores our hope, renews our strength, and realigns our hearts.

Modern life often tells us that we need to carry everything alone. But God teaches us the opposite: we are created to rely on Him. When we choose His way, we experience guidance instead of confusion, peace instead of panic, and strength instead of exhaustion. His presence turns burdens into opportunities for growth and struggles into pathways toward trust.

So today, if your heart feels tired, pause for a moment. Breathe deeply. Bring your worries to God. Allow Him to give you the rest your soul has been longing for. Believe that His heart is gentle, His guidance is steady, and His love is enough for every weight you carry.

In His presence, you will find not only rest, but renewal.
