9/16/2022 (Friday) Today’s gospel reading: Luke 8:1-3
1 Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve
2 and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,
3 Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources.
9/16/2022 (Friday) Today’s gospel reflection: Luke 8:1-3
Jesus is the son of God who had and still has the power to change the world in one stroke. With the use of force, He can convert the whole world into His side and banish the enemy forever. Yet that is not the way of love. He wanted to accomplish His mission by starting small yet sure albeit slow. He wanted us to follow Him by our own volition. We maybe hard-headed at times but He continues to wait for our positive response. He continue to bless us with His healing power and with His powerful words.
The gospel reading shows us how people especially women became avid supporters of His mission. Some of them were recipient of the healing power of Jesus. It only shows that one’s background does not factor in our decision to follow Him. In fact, most of them do not have good family or social backgrounds. Yet, once they encountered Jesus, their lives would never be the same again. May we emulate their good example.
