History of Lamut
The municipality of Lamut was previously part of Kiangan. It was created as an independent municipality in 1959 with Guinid Tuguinay as the first mayor.
Economy of Lamut
Agriculture is the main economic activity in Lamut where rice and corn are the primary products. Backyard raising of poultry and livestock is an additional source of income. Cottage industries produce furniture, baskets, and other handicrafts.
The town center called Poblacion is the location of a public market, a grocery store, hardware shop, a cooperative and rural bank. Barangay Nayon hosts the Ifugao State University.
