History
San Jose was first a village belonging to the town of Lupao. It was separated as a town on March 19, 1894 with Canuto Ramos as the first municipal president (mayor).
On July 17, 1969, San Jose became a city.

Economy, Business and Investment
The economy of San Jose is based on agriculture where rice and onion are the main products. Vegetables, root crops, sorghum, poultry, pork, and eggs are also produced.
Manufacturing is largely small scale dominated by rice milling, furniture and automotive repair shops, bakeries, tailoring, dressmaking, food processing, and handicraft making.
