Tom Cunanan is ‘Best Chef’ at James Beard Awards 2019

Filipino-American Thomas Cunanan of Bad Saint Restaurant was chosen as the “Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic” by the prestigious James Beard Awards for 2019.

Tom had been nominated three times in the past. Located in Washington DC, his restaurant is famous for his Filipino-inspired cuisine.


Brief Background
Tom was born in Olongapo City, Zambales Province in the Philippines. When he was three years old, his parents brought him to the United States where he grew up. After his studies, he worked for kitchens Vidalia and Ardeo Bardeo where he honed his culinary skills. In 2015, he opened Bad Saint.
