27 While Jesus was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.”

10/10/2026 (Saturday) Today’s Gospel reflection / homily / sermon: Luke 11:27-28
Theme: Blessed are those who live the Word
A woman in the crowd praises Jesus by honoring the mother who gave Him life. Jesus does not reject her praise, but He redirects the attention toward something deeper: true blessedness does not simply come from being close to Jesus, admiring Him, or hearing His teachings. It comes from hearing the Word of God and living it. The passage reminds us that God’s Word is not merely something to listen to; it is something to receive, practice, and allow to transform our lives.
W — Welcome the Word
The first step is to welcome God’s Word into our hearts. Every day, we hear thousands of voices—news, opinions, criticism, advertisements, social media, and the voices of people around us. Some voices give us wisdom; others create fear, anger, confusion, or discouragement.
God’s Word gives us a different voice. It reminds us who we are, whose we are, and where we are going. But we cannot be transformed by a Word we refuse to welcome. We need hearts that are humble enough to say, “Lord, teach me. Correct me. Guide me.”
O — Obey the Word
Hearing is important, but hearing alone is not enough. We can listen to beautiful teachings every Sunday, read inspiring reflections every morning, and share religious messages with others—but if our lives remain unchanged, something is missing.
Obedience turns faith into action. If God calls us to forgive, we forgive. If He calls us to love, we love. If He asks us to be honest, we choose honesty even when dishonesty seems easier. If He tells us to trust Him, we continue trusting even when the future is uncertain.
The Word becomes powerful when it moves from our ears to our hands and feet.
R — Remember the Word
Life has a way of making us forget what God has already taught us. Problems become so loud that His promises seem distant. Disappointments can make us question His goodness. Fear can make us forget His faithfulness.
That is why we must remember the Word, not only when everything is going well, but especially when life becomes difficult. Remembering God’s truth gives us strength when circumstances give us reasons to give up.
When you feel lost, remember what God has taught you. When you feel weak, remember His faithfulness. When you feel discouraged, remember that your present struggle is not the whole story.
D — Demonstrate the Word
The final purpose of God’s Word is transformation. We are called to become living examples of what we have heard.
People may not read the Bible, but they may read our lives. They may see our patience when we are tested, our kindness when others are unkind, our forgiveness when we have been hurt, and our hope when circumstances seem hopeless.
Our lives can become a message.
The world does not need Christians who merely know many religious words. It needs people whose lives demonstrate the Word through love, compassion, humility, courage, forgiveness, and faith.
So let us not merely hear God’s Word. Let us WELCOME it, OBEY it, REMEMBER it, and DEMONSTRATE it.
Blessing is not simply found in hearing something beautiful from God. True blessing comes when God’s Word takes root in our hearts and becomes visible in the way we live.
Hear the Word. Live the Word. Become the Word’s witness.
