7/14/2026 (Tuesday) Today’s Gospel reading: Matthew 11:20-24
20 Jesus began to reproach the towns where most of his mighty deeds had been done, since they had not repented.
21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
23 And as for you, Capernaum: Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld. For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
24 But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”
7/14/2026 (Tuesday) Today’s Gospel reflection / homily / sermon: Matthew 11:20-24
The Gospel passage presents a sobering moment in Jesus’ ministry. He reflects on towns that had witnessed countless miracles, heard His teaching, and experienced God’s compassion firsthand. Yet despite these extraordinary blessings, many people remained unchanged. They saw God’s power but refused to let it transform their hearts. Their greatest tragedy was not ignorance but indifference. The passage reminds us that God’s blessings always invite a response. Every new day is an opportunity to choose faith, gratitude, and obedience.
The word DAY provides a simple reminder of how we should respond to God’s gracious invitations.
D – Don’t Delay Your Conversion
One of the greatest dangers in the spiritual life is assuming there will always be another chance. Many people postpone forgiveness, delay prayer, neglect worship, or ignore opportunities to serve others because they believe tomorrow will always come. But every day is a gift that is never guaranteed.
Imagine a student who receives excellent teachers, abundant resources, and countless opportunities to learn but refuses to study. Eventually, exams arrive, and opportunities are lost. Likewise, every blessing God gives us carries with it the responsibility to grow. Spiritual maturity begins when we stop making excuses and start responding today.
A – Appreciate Every Grace
The people in those cities became so familiar with God’s works that they no longer appreciated them. Familiarity can dull gratitude. We, too, can become accustomed to God’s daily gifts such as the gift of life, family, health, friendships, work, forgiveness, and countless unnoticed blessings.
A person who thanks God only for extraordinary miracles misses the quiet miracles happening every day. Every sunrise, every answered prayer, every encouraging word, and every opportunity to love is evidence of God’s presence.
Grateful hearts remain sensitive to God. Appreciation opens our eyes to His continuous work and keeps our faith alive.
Y – Yield Your Heart Completely
Seeing God’s goodness is not enough; we must surrender our lives to Him. True faith is demonstrated not merely by knowing about Christ but by allowing Him to shape our decisions, priorities, attitudes, and relationships.
Think of fertile soil receiving abundant rain. Rain alone does not produce fruit unless the soil welcomes the seed and allows growth. God’s grace continually falls upon us, but lasting fruit appears only when our hearts willingly receive His guidance.
Yielding means allowing God’s truth to challenge our pride, soften our hearts, strengthen our character, and redirect our lives. Every act of obedience becomes evidence that His grace has taken root within us.
The warning in this Gospel is also an invitation filled with hope. God never reveals His truth merely to inform us but to transform us. Every sermon we hear, every Scripture we read, every act of kindness we receive, and every blessing we experience becomes another opportunity to grow closer to Him.
Today is God’s gift. Tomorrow belongs to Him. Yesterday cannot be changed. Therefore, let every DAY remind us: Don’t delay your conversion, Appreciate every grace, and Yield your heart completely. A life that continually responds to God’s grace will never regret the day it chose to follow Him wholeheartedly.
Quote of the Day: “The greatest miracle is not simply witnessing God’s power, but allowing His grace to transform our hearts every single day.”
