Career
Delos Santos has already achieved significant milestones in his young career, competing in the men’s 67 kg and 71 kg junior weight classes. A major career highlight came at the 2025 IWF World Weightlifting Championships in Forde, Norway, where he was only 19 years old. In his first senior competition, he set a new junior world record in the clean and jerk with a lift of 185 kilograms in the 71-kilogram division, finishing eighth overall. This made him the first Filipino junior to ever set a world record in the sport. Earlier in 2025, he also secured a gold medal in the clean and jerk and a silver in the total lift in the juniors’ 71-kilogram division at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan. Furthermore, in 2023, he won two gold medals in the men’s 61-kilogram junior category at the World Youth and Junior Championships in Lima, Peru, stunning a Chinese opponent and recovering well after a back injury in 2024. He earned a silver medal in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games held in Thailand.
Delos Santos is training at the HD Weightlifting Academy under the guidance of coach Julius Naranjo, who is also the husband of Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo, from whom Delos Santos also receives tips.
